What is Electos?

Now You Can Easily Manage Your Web Content!

Electos is a powerful Content Management System. The Electos Studio offers unmatched ease of use without compromising the full capabilities of the web. Maintain existing - or create new pages as easily as you use MS-Word. The Electos Publisher is a maintenance-free engine that takes care of navigation, scheduling publication as planned in the Studio, keep an extremely fast search-engine up to date and much more. Electos is developed with the Visual DataFlex Studio. A mature database application framework for Windows and Web applications. Add any custom-functionality to Electos (Developer Edition).

Plus, Electos now offers ready-to-use professional website design templates that easily integrate with your Electos deployment. Add a new design, or update an existing design quickly and easily at a fraction of the cost of designing a custom website!

Manage your own website!
After the excitement of having your website designed is over, you then have to face the repetitious work of changing text, publishing pictures and product information - maintaining your website.

Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to rely on the availability of your web designer to make these changes to the content? Instead, authorize your assistant, or even better: change things yourself, quickly and easily over the internet from anywhere?

You can - with Electos!
Edit your own text, it is as simple as typing a letter in your favourite word-processor. And what's so good about it, you can do this from any place in the world, as long as you have access to the Internet, and Internet Explorer to login.

bullet

Edit your own text, as simply as typing a letter in your favourite word-processor...

bullet

Add pictures, create links to external URL's, or to other pages in your site.

bullet

Both Menus and pages are created dynamically. The time-line engine supports Activation, De-Activation or scheduling (from date to date) of each item.

In Electos there is no limit to the number of web pages, levels of depth in site structure, number of authors for a site. There is no limit to the location from where you maintain the site, and there is no limit to those viewing the site!

If access is so easy, is this safe?
Electos allows you to allocate password controlled log-ins to your content authors. Based on these, your web site contributors will be able to carry out only those tasks appropriate to their role. These include permissions for creating pages, deleting pages, uploading images and files, etc.

You can safely extend the task of contributing to your web site to any number of appropriate persons, who will not need to be skilled in HTML techniques. Uploading the images and downloadable files that go with the content is integrated into Electos, with no need to manage a separate upload process, or compromise your web server security by allowing TCP/IP file transfer.

Electos Editions

General
Electos comes in three different editions, Standard (free) Professional (AUD$1,100) and Developer (additional AUD$2,200).

Electos needs a Web Application Server (WAS) for deployment. It can be deployed on a WAS Lite Server, however, due to the limited nature of the Lite Server, this is not recommended for use on a live website.

Electos Standard Edition
bullet

The Electos Standard Edition supports the deployment of only one (1) website per web-server.

bullet

The Electos Standard Edition comes with the Visual DataFlex Studio and with both the WAS Lite and Internet versions of the Web Application Servers.

bullet

Deployment of the Standard Edition on any server is without charge, so long as it runs on a registered Web Application Server, either a Lite Server, or an Internet Server.

Electos Professional Edition
bullet

At this time, the functionality is similar, but in future the Professional Edition will offer extra functionality compared to the Standard Edition.

bullet

The Professional Edition is licensed per installed web server.

bullet

A registered WAS Lite Server, or WAS Internet server needs to be installed on the web server.

bullet

The Electos Professional Edition supports running multiple websites so long as they are all on the same web server. There is no limitation as to the number of websites run on the Professional Edition on that one server.

bullet

The Electos Professional Edition license allows for acting as an ASP (Application Server Provider) in hosting Content Managed Web Sites.

Electos Developer Edition
bullet

The Electos Development Edition is based on the Professional Edition. As this is targeted at software developers who wish to build custom-versions of Electos, the Developer Edition provides full source code.

bullet

A special source-code license agreement needs to be signed, prior to purchasing the Developer Edition.

bullet

The developer needs to have their own registered license of a Professional Edition and, of course, the developer needs a Visual DataFlex Studio, to develop a custom version of Electos.

bullet

A registered WAS Lite Server, or WAS Internet server needs to be installed on the web server.

bullet

For the distribution of custom-built versions of Electos, the same policies and prices apply as with the Professional Edition.

Electos 30 Day Evaluation (Standard Edition)
bulletIf you already have a Web Application Server or Visual DataFlex Studio, you can download the Electos Standard Edition, which will install as a 30 day evaluation. Otherwise download and install the Visual DataFlex 11.1 30 Day Evaluation.

Visual DataFlex's integrated Web Application Server (WAS) technology delivers dynamic, fast, secure, web-enabled database applications utilizing Windows Server technology.
